GoreBox Reality Crusher Modes
Complete guide to every GoreBox Reality Crusher V2 mode — Link, Rope, Wire, Phase, Teleport, Freeze — plus Toolgun vs RCV2 differences.
The Reality Crusher V2 (RCV2) is the defining tool of GoreBox — a multi-mode device that lets you spawn, link, resize, and destroy nearly every entity in the sandbox. Originally called the Toolgun in GoreBox Remastered, the modern RCV2 ships with a mode wheel covering construction, demolition, and traversal utilities. Mastering each mode separates casual spawn-and-shoot sessions from elaborate contraptions, boss-speedrun routes, and Workshop-ready map prototypes.
You receive the RCV2 by default in most sandbox sessions. Type /give Toolgun in Creator Mode to respawn one if lost. During the Observer boss fight on Legacy, the game strips your inventory — you must craft a limited Toolgun at the tower workbench. The Phil boss fight also replaces RCV2 with a restricted Toolgun missing Phase, Freeze, and certain spawn permissions.
Construction Modes
Link is the default mode for selecting, grabbing, and moving objects with physics intact. Use it to stack props, reposition GoreDolls, and assemble vehicles before welding connections. Rope attaches flexible tethers between two points — ideal for pendulums and swinging platforms. Wire connects electronics, explosives, and button props for remote triggers; it also routes camera feeds to monitors for security-room builds.
Balloon attaches helium balloons for lift — one of the oldest RCV modes, returning in v16 addons. Shrink and Enlarge adjust object scale without respawning. Interact triggers usable props at range, speeding up door and switch operation during roleplay maps.
Combat & Traversal Modes
Explosion creates a directed blue blast at your crosshair without placing ordnance — critical for Verse Curse fights when you need quick crowd control. Launch applies extreme impulse force for catapult tests. Teleport moves you to the surface under your crosshair; unavailable on the limited Toolgun during Phil's fight. Phase lets grabbed objects pass through walls while freezing them on grab — essential for interior detailing. Freeze locks objects in place, perfect for freezing a GoreDoll distraction during Observer blueprint runs.
Pair snap commands /rs and /ps from our commands reference with Link mode for grid-aligned builds. See also PC controls for mode-switch keybinds on keyboard and mouse.
Toolgun vs RCV2
The Toolgun name persists in lore and boss fights as an earlier Reality Crusher generation. Functionally, /give Toolgun in normal sandbox spawns the full RCV2. Boss variants intentionally limit modes to increase difficulty — you cannot Phase through walls during Phil's arena or spawn heavy explosives during certain Observer phases. When the gamemode editor's "Ban Reality Crusher" option is active, /give Toolgun still gives the model but blocks spawning.
